About Mounts in FFXIV: A Realm Reborn
Most larger MMOs (and a handful of others) provide players with a set of mounts. These are obtainable creatures (or in some games vehicles) that can be used to move around the open world faster. In Final Fantasy 14 there are a total of 7 mounts available for players to get as of right now. Below we have listed each mount along with an image and what is required to obtain it.
The available mounts right now are:
- Company Chocobo
- Legacy Chocobo
- Magitek Armor
NOTE: Ahriman does not technically fly. Instead he just hovers above the ground when you ride him.
Coeurl is a rather magnificent-looking beast that somewhat resembles a cheetah. It has long whiskers that look like tails that come off either side of its face. The Coeurl mount is only available for players that chose to purchase the collector’s edition (CE) of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
The Goobbue are rather large creature that are seen in various areas. They stand very tall, are mostly grey, and covered in what looks like moss and plants. The Goobbue mount was only available to players that stayed around during FFXIV 1.0 and is no longer obtainable.
The Legacy Chocobo is one of the coolest looking chocobo mounts in the game. Unfortunately this mount is only available to players that have acquired legacy status by staying with the game during the 1.0 version. Legacy players get a slightly lower subscription fee, got early access to the game, and a few other perks.
Magitek Armor, as some dedicated FF fans might remember, was a large, mechanical suit that was in Final Fantasy 6. The Magitek suit has made its return in the form of a mount in FFXIV: A Realm Reborn. It’s large, it looks incredibly badass, and it’s only obtainable once you complete the main story line in its entirety.
